Oaks and Gardens

We love our oaks but don't always know what they need. Learn everything you need to know about caring for the oak trees in your yard at this free workshop with local arborist Michael Inaba of Inaba Horticulture. Clear up any confusion about how and when to water, and what to do with all those leaves. Find out about water saving native plants that can be used for landscaping beneath oaks, too. oaksAndGardens10.jpg Your oak trees are an important part of your landscape, and they are even more important to the environment! Come learn how you can get the most from your trees, and how to avoid extra expenses to maximize your “green investment.” The workshop will take place rain or shine on Saturday, September 18, 2010 from 10:00am to 11:30am. Seating on the benches is limited so feel free to bring a chair for a comfortable seat. The garden is located at 401 South Ventura St., behind City Hall.

Garden Volunteer Day

Come see what's growing on in the City of Ojai Community Demonstration Garden on Saturday, September 11, at 9:30am. You can get some exercise, meet people and have fun working to help maintain our special community garden. SDIM5195a_7c_6b_tonemapped.jpg We'll start off with a short meeting where you will find out how you can become a volunteer. You can stay as long as you like to work on various tasks with other volunteers. There is something for everyone, and no experience is necessary. There's plenty to do, so come join us!
