Ojai Gets Growing!
Over fifty aspiring vegetable gardeners came to Steve Sprinkel's Planting What you Cook workshop in the City of Ojai Community Demonstration Garden Saturday afternoon.
Most stayed cool in the shade of the oaks, but a few chose to watch from the comfort of the gazebo. 
Steve entertained the crowd with a lively talk peppered with a generous dose of practical advice.
Steve taught all the basics of organic vegetable gardening, and shared many expert tips with the group. He also demonstrated some of his favorite tools.
After a two hour discussion in which Steve answered the participants' many questions, Steve prepared a bed for planting, added compost 
created a straight row and, with a little help from the group
planted tomato and eggplant seedlings.
Ojai residents will undoubtedly enjoy some tasty homegrown meals this summer! Photos by Les Dublin.
