Compost Workshop with Jessica Craven

Twenty people learned heaps of information about composting today with Master Gardener Jessica Craven in the City of Ojai Community Demonstration Garden. compost-dec08-web1.jpgThe compost made at last December's compost workshop was put to good use, as Jessica demonstrated how to sift finished compost with a little help from a volunteer.compost-dec08-web2.jpgThe emptied bin was filled with layers of freshly cut grass, dried leaves, manure, kitchen scraps and sifted material from the previous compost pile.compost-dec08-web3.jpgParticipants had a chance to see, touch and smell the finished compost, so they'll know when their own compost is ready to be put to work in their gardens.compost-dec08-web4.jpgPhotos by Les Dublin.
