Autumn Color, California Style

Toyon (Heteromeles arbutifolia) berries at different stages of maturity create splashes of bright seasonal color in the City of Ojai Community Demonstration Garden. toyon08-3-web.jpgWhen the golden berries ripen to red, they provide a tasty treat for the birds.toyon08-1-web.jpgThis native shrub most likely owes its common names, California Holly and Christmas Berry, to its red berries and finely toothed leaves.

Happy Anniversary

The City of Ojai Community Demonstration Garden is fifteen years old, and we think that's something to celebrate!15-years-poster-web.jpg We are especially grateful to the many dedicated volunteers who have worked so hard to create and care for the garden over the years, from the novice weeders to the experts who teach our workshops. Thank you, Ojai, for your support!
