The first summer workshop in the City of Ojai Community Demonstration Garden was a resounding success. Thirty participants came to the garden to learn how to select and care for roses from Ventura County Master Gardener Program Co-chair Anthony Hepton.
Tony shared many helpful expert pruning and planting tips with the group. Participants learned how to save water and suppress weeds by spreading a four inch thick layer of mulch around roses. They also learned how to use plants like feverfew and cranesbill to attract beneficial insects that keep rose pests at bay.
