Matilija Poppies
Our local beauties have been blooming in the City of Ojai Community Demonstration Garden since early May, and are still going strong.
There are two kinds of local poppies in this picture; orange California poppies can be seen in the foreground growing among native irises, blue-eyed grass, ceanothus, and island snapdragons.

I am in the San Francisco Bay Area and planted Matilija Poppies in our yard after seeing them on frequent trips to Ojai 30 years ago.
They do well but developed yellowing leaves during a time period that I feel is too quick to be going into dormancy. This has happened for the past two years since we planted.
Thoughs on what might be causing the early yellowing of the leaves of the plnat?
Thanks,
Lesley

Dear Ojai Gardens
I am new to the area and would like to attend your events, but this website seems to only report events after they have occured!! Could you please, please have a Calendar on your website, for upcoming events, and also explain their location (ie. Where IS the Ojai Community Garden?) Thank you.
