Hummingbird Sage
The beautiful early spring blooms of the Hummingbird Sage (Salvia spathacia) are a favorite of the hummingbirds and butterflies in the City of Ojai Community Demonstration Garden.
Hummingbird Sage is a California native perennial that is easy to grow and sometimes even self sows. It requires little water and is suitable for planting under oaks.

Question: What do you mean that it is suitable for growing under oaks? That it will grow in shade?

Yes, hummingbird sage grows well in the dry shade under oaks, in part shade, or full sun.
