On cold winter days, when most gardeners and visitors are occupied in their warm homes, 
the City of Ojai Community Demonstration Garden is a peaceful but active place 
where many birds are out and about
enjoying the bounty of nature.
Here are a of few of the birds that posed for Les during the last few weeks of the year.

An Acorn Woodpecker was caught this morning snacking on its winter stash of acorns. It should have plenty to eat this winter, due to this fall's bumper crop.

Over 40 people came out to the CIty of Ojai Community Demonstration Garden this morning to learn how to make compost.
Expert composter Jessica Craven, a dynamic speaker, kept the crowd entertained as well as informed.
Participants, who brought table scraps, helped create a compost pile.
After the workshop, Jessica modeled her new Demo Garden tee shirt.
