Two Teucriums

Summer blooming Germander is an herb that makes a lovely edging plant for a perennial bed. Creeping Germander makes a beautiful carpet herb or groundcover, and is often grown on walls. Both types are blooming now in the City of Ojai Community Demonstration Garden. Photos by Les Dublin.

Wow!

Students from the Monica Ros School toured the City of Ojai Community Demonstration Garden this week. The vegetable area got the biggest reaction from the students, who collectively yelled WOW as the lush, colorful area came into view. Photos by Les Dublin.

Local Color

The vegetable area of the City of Ojai Community Demonstration Garden is colorful these days. Four o'clocks and a teepee of morning glories brighten the children's garden. Monarda, calendula, borage, evening primrose and feverfew cheer visitors who stop at the medicine wheel herb garden. Photos by Les Dublin.

Bee Kind to Hummingbirds

Bee Balm (Monarda) attracts more than just bees. This red flowered variety (Monarda Jacob Cline) is already a hit with the resident hummingbirds in the City of Ojai Community Demonstration Garden's hummingbird garden. The purple flowered variety is located in the Medicine Wheel Herb Garden. Both varieties attract and nourish bees, butterflies and hummingbirds. Photos by Les Dublin.
