Weeds at Work
Weeds are a readily available source of mulch material at this time of year. The weeds in this bed will help keep the soil moist during the hot, dry days to come. Volunteers pulled weeds and laid them down thickly on the soil in this no-dig bed that currently features garlic.

The garlic looks great! We have a row that came up after we didn't pull them last year. I think we'll have big mutant bulbs of garlic for a couple months.
